The Lake Island Nativity
A Small-Town Tradition That Lights Up South Texas
For over a quarter century, families have made the drive to Cuero Municipal Park for one of the most beloved holiday light displays in the state. What began in 2000 with a single lit gazebo has grown into a breathtaking drive-through experience featuring hundreds of handcrafted scenes, a stunning lakeside nativity, and thousands of twinkling LEDs.
Best of all, admission is always free.
A Drive-Through Holiday Wonderland
Tune your radio to our holiday frequency and cruise through Cuero Municipal Park at your own pace. The self-guided driving tour winds past Victorian streetscapes, whimsical gingerbread houses, western scenes, towering candy cane arches, and "Sassy" the Sea Serpent.
The average tour takes 30 to 45 minutes, and every turn reveals something new. Rain or shine, the lights are on every single night from the Monday before Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.
Scenes Worth the Drive
The Paddlewheel Boat
At 85 feet long, this landmark scene is one of the largest handcrafted displays in the entire park. The lights perfectly map out the details of a classic riverboat.
Santa Over the Knoll
Watch Santa and his reindeer soar gracefully over the knoll while his elves stay busy with gifts below. It's a magical animated display children look forward to every year.
Hot Chocolate Nights
Every Thursday in December from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, local businesses and community groups serve free hot chocolate to visitors as they enjoy the lights.
